Charley and his wife Ann have lived in a Victorian house on Brink Road since 2005. Ann retired as a librarian with the Food and Drug Administration in 2014.

Charley has three grown children—Mario, Melina, and Gabriel—and six rambunctious grandchildren. Mario, who now lives in Clarksburg, is a software architect with Leidos, a company that spun off from Lockheed Martin. His son Elliott is a Business School student at Lehigh University and plays ultimate frisbee. Melina lives near Reading, Pennsylvania, with her three children—Kaitlin, an accomplished youth soccer player; Leah, a skilled horseback rider; and Brendan, who plays football and lacrosse. Melina and her husband Travis are both veterinarians. Travis is part-owner of an equine practice, and Melina works for Zoetis, an American drug company that is the world’s largest producer of veterinary vaccinations and medicines. Gabriel lives on Cape Cod with his wife Heather, daughter Maren, and son Miles. Gabe is a patent agent with a Boston law firm and Heather is a scientific writer. Maren enjoys ice skating and Miles likes toy trucks.
